The Mr. Obvious Award goes to the NY Times:
The NY Times has an article today entitled: "Demand Outpaced Supply for New Game Consoles"
When you have Wiis and PS3s selling on eBay for twice the retail value or more, of course demand outpaced supply. Do I really need an analyst's opinion to tell me this?
The article is interesting if you want to know the actual sales numbers. Another point is that the PS3 turned out not to be the Xbox 360's main competition, rather the Wii was. This was also acknowledged by Bill Gates recently who said:
"The strength of Nintendo...in the portable space, has been very impressive. [It's] surprised a lot of people, I think, [that] and the Wii. We see Nintendo as our toughest competition."

Sorry Sony, but maybe pushing Blu-ray down the throats of the consumers didn't pay off for you.
