A couple sites have been testing the song sharing capabilities of the Zune. From their initial results it appears that the Zune will not share over 50% of the songs. This inability to share is not a problem with the Zune, rather the problem appears to be a DRM issue. It's pretty interesting to see how many songs on some labels will not be allowed to be shared.

I have a sense of humor like any other Zune owner. Check out Registered Media and their conception of an iPhone faceplate for your Zune. Called the iFace, it touts that: "you'll never have to lie to friends about why you own a Zune.."

Imagine my surprise when I hooked up my Zune to my Media Center PC only to learn that the Zune will not sync my recorded TV. This was upsetting, my guess is since we're in between Vista and XP, once Vista is launched we'll be able to sync with the Vista Media Center.
All was not lost for me however. I also happen to have an XP Media Center PC (with two TV cards), which we use to connect to other TVs via Extenders. Since my current Extenders will not work on Vista, I have to keep my Media Center running XP.
After searching the web, I found dCut which is free application that will ...

I just purchased the Belkin Holster Case for my Zune today. Bought it from Walmart at the retail price of $29. The case is pretty nice; black leather with gray trim, a nice protective screen cover built into the case (I'm worried this will scratch and then ruin the case though). All in all it's a nice case, there are buttons on the case that go on top of the Zune buttons, and ...

Not exactly real time chat, but what ChikaZune does is create a series of graphics you can send to another Zune. The graphics are basically text with messages to send. Here's the forum thread where the developer posted the information.

As the above video shows, it looks like some earnest user got Linux running on their Zune. It's hard to tell from the video quality to confirm if this is real or not. The video is posted by MysVidal who was known to be working on Linux for the Zune.
We'll let you know ...

According to Chron.com, Microsoft's Bryan Lee, Corp. VP for Microsoft's Entertainment business will be meeting with the music industry. One outcome of the meeting could be to change the 3 plays or 3 days rule on the Zune.

As I mentioned previously, I ordered a new brown Zune from Amazon. It was delivered today. I figured I would install the Zune on my UMPC. I have Vista on the UMPC, so I went to the Zune site to make sure I downloaded the latest version that supports Vista. Once I ran setup I received the error: "This software requires a minimum of 800x600 resolution". Good thing I have the resolution switcher working (some people had problems getting this to work on the Q1) or I wouldn't have been able to continue. You would think the Zune would work on the UMPC without issue.
